A beautifully presented clothbound children’s book that is a wonderful way to inspire your kids to read. This gets a 4 out of 5 in my view and a definite repeat read time after time.
We’ve come across many kids books in the last four years and this one is pretty amazing! Oliver Jeffers is a big hit in our house. Phoebe (like her mum) has a particularly short attention span so if a book doesn’t excite her early on, she’s on to the next thing that sparks her interest. This book grabbed her from the first page.
The book tells the story of a boy who accidentally takes a bite of his book one day. From there he develops an interest in regularly eating books, more and more each day. The more books he eats, the smarter he becomes.
The illustrations in the book are beautiful! It becomes so easy to build on the story as you go just using the pictures as a cue.
The rear cover on this edition of the book has teeth marks, almost as if the boy has taken a bite from this book. After the story itself, we had a 10 minute conversation about why the boy didn’t eat the rest of her book.
