Women in Horror Month

Women in horror month

Throughout the month of February, I will be running my new blog series to coincide with the 9th annual Women in Horror Month.

I’ll be posting on my blog every day during February and will be bringing you the best of all things horror from female talent in literature, movies, TV, the blogging community and pretty much everything else in between. If it’s horror genre related and involves women, I’m likely to post about it. Sign-up and follow my blog to make sure you don’t miss out.

I’ll also be running a daily challenge on my Instagram account using #allthehorrorladies so if you like a good challenge be sure to follow me on Instagram and look out for details of the daily prompts for February to be announced later this month.

So what is Women in Horror Month?

Women in Horror Month (WiHM) is an international, grassroots initiative, which encourages supporters to learn about and showcase the underrepresented work of women in the horror industries. Whether they are on the screen, behind the scenes, or contributing in their other various artistic ways, it is clear that women love, appreciate, and contribute to the horror genre.

WiHM celebrates these contributions to horror throughout the year via the official WiHM blog, Ax Wound, The Ax Wound Film Festival, and with the official WiHM event/project database in February. This database (http://womeninhorrormonth.com/events)—in conjunction with the WiHM social media fan base—actively promotes do-it-yourself annual film screenings, blogs/articles, podcasts, and any other form of creative media with the ultimate goal of helping works by and featuring women reach a wider audience.

If you like horror, you will want to stay tuned with me on Instagram and here on my blog. I’ll be wrapping up the month of February with a little giveaway for all my blog and Instagram followers.

You will also want to check out some of the fab events over on the official WiHM website above!

  1. I follow you on Twitter! And I’m glad I came across you! I’m an author, editor, publicist in the horror community and also I have a book blog too. I’m asking writers to interview a Women in Horror with 3-5 questions, then send that to me with bio, photo, book info etc. for that person and for them as well. If you’d like to do one, I’d be glad to have you and plus we can link back to your promotion too. But I also plan to follow along on yours, as it looks like fun. If you’re featuring women in horror also, I’d love to be considered as well. If you’re interested, I’d also happily send you a copy of my dark poetry and short story fiction collection, BREATHE. BREATHE., which released from Unnerving Magazine’s book line to rave reviews (4.8 out of 5 stars currently on Amazon). I also have a story in Hardened Hearts anthology from same, as well as being featured in Project Entertainment Network’s My Favorite Story anthology, which is a book in which all of us podcast hosts share our favorite story written. I’m in there with great authors and podcasters like Brian Keene, Christopher Golden, Jonathan Maberry, etc. Sorry this is the only way I found to contact you! My e-mail is hookofabook@hotmail.com. Thanks for taking the time to read this message (and read horror in general!!). I look forward to hearing any thoughts back from you. 🙂
